Safeway HAD the ONLY real onion bagels in AZ! Not like the so called "NY bagel" spots that sprinkle a little toasted onion on a plain bagel and call it an onion bagel. The onion was cooked into the dough! Now you changed the bagel dough? Why in the world did you guys decide to do that? Bad idea! New dough like plastic, worse than a frozen Lenders bagel!

I was in today around noon. I asked for 6 chicken breasts from the counter. She hands me a package behind her that has chicken breasts pre packaged. I kindly asked to have 6 from the counter where she proceeded to argue with me that they were packaged today. This is the second time I have had this same encounter with the same lady. Why can’t I just get them from the counter? Is it too much for her to do her actual job?

Last Friday I went in with my little human, with the mom brain of get in and get out fast. Obviously my after-schooler was making it so easy to checkout fast 🤪 and distracting me. I didn’t realize I double swiped/charged an item at their self/checkout and apparently grabbed the wrong style of product. I noticed it when I reached home and had to go back and get my exchange/refund etc. situated out. Well, Monique B. At the Customer Service counter was an absolute angel. She went above and beyond. She knew the current sale going on, even walked to the back to grab the product not on the shelf and simply helped me make the necessary adjustments and grabbed it from the back room. To say her attention to detail and compassion as a person was next level kind. It’s frustrating enough having to go back and forth with things that could have been avoided had I just slowed down and checked before leaving but we were running late to the next errand. I can’t stress how I’m still appreciative of her kindness, her willingness and intentionality of just making my situation less tense. She made me feel seen, she was kind and extremely knowledgeable about her process. Really made me feel valued. Thank you Monique B! Keep shining your light!

I bought a dozen donuts on the afternoon of 10th, the icing started melting by the time I got home (i live 2 minutes away) I opened them the very next morning and they were hard as rocks, every single donut was inedibly hard and did not taste good to even force yourself to eat. The first thing I said was “this is exactly why I don’t go to Safeway” horrible quality among other things like rude and unhelpful employees. Safeway has become a last resort store. For $9 I could’ve painted some rocks in a donut shape and left them on display like these are clearly meant for!

This Safeway location in Mesa is one of the cleanest and most organized grocery stores I’ve been to. The produce section is always stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables, and the layout makes it easy to find everything. I stopped in for a few items and ended up grabbing steak, snacks, and a few household essentials. Everything rang up correctly and checkout was fast. The staff was helpful when I asked about an item in the meat department. The parking lot was clean and well lit, and there were plenty of carts available. It’s a solid go-to grocery store in the area. Always a good experience here.
