After trying Boar’s Head sliced at Pavilions, I can confidently say that Ralphs is the worst place to buy deli meat. The service is consistently poor—they often have untrained staff who avoid helping customers. Just a few days ago, we even saw a teenage employee sneaking pieces of meat and trying to hide behind the counter. If you're looking for quality deli service and professionalism, skip Ralphs and go to Pavilions instead.
Ralph is part of the Kroger family. It is a well run and clean aĺl around grocery store. Their private label items are tops in my book. Their Butcher and seafood section are outstanding. The staff is courteous and helpful.
If you care about quality and knowledgeable service, skip the deli and seafood counters at Ralphs. The deli employees clearly have no understanding of the meats they’re slicing—when asked basic questions about Boar’s Head or other products, they just shrug or give incorrect info. It’s frustrating and shows a lack of training. The seafood section isn’t any better. When I asked where the fish was sourced from, or how fresh it was, the staff had no answers—one even admitted they “just put it out” without knowing what it was. It doesn’t inspire confidence when you're buying fresh food.
Ralph's is generally a solid grocery store with good prices, friendly staff, and a pleasant atmosphere. However, the self-checkout machines are a disaster. They are excessively loud, slow, and constantly malfunctioning. Despite my repeated complaints to the staff, nothing has changed. The lack of attention to this issue is unacceptable and has significantly tarnished my shopping experience. Until this problem is addressed, I can’t recommend this store.
I tried to pay for the items I wanted to buy by going to the check-out line but no one was at the cash register. There were six employees in front of the cash registers talking to each other. I waited for about 10-15 seconds trying to get someones attention but not immediately interrupting their conversation. No one paid attention to me even though I was only 5-6 feet away from them and looking right at them. Finally, I asked who looked like a manager, if I could get some assistance paying for my groceries at one of the cash registers. She said that she could help me. I brought my own grocery bag and began emptying my items to be paid for. The Ralph's attendant scanned all of my items and then handed me my receipt then just walked away. She didn't help me bag my groceries or even ask me if I would like any help bagging my groceries. On top of that, she charged me for oranges but I had bought 3 bananas which over-charged me for my bananas. I will not be going back to Ralph's and will tell everyone I know how bad the customer service is at Ralph's.
