There’s a culture of low or no service here. I’ve seen customers treated very poorly when they ask a question, ask for service for some of the locked items, or ask a pricing question. Today I asked where I could find a selection of certain products, and I was told I needed to go ask somebody else because they didn’t know. I don’t know have times changed so much that nobody offers to find out for you? I know it’s tough to run a grocery store in an urban area. But bad service is the standard here because of how the store is managed, treating customers badly seems to be allowed here. The store needs new managers who value customers of all kinds and who train and model higher level of service for every shopper. It’s not like I haven’t given the store a chance. I ask basic and reasonable questions every once in a while, like any customer would. But on every occasion, I’ve been left feeling as if every day questions are in nuisance. What an opportunity to be in the center of such a city but what a bummer to think so poorly of your customers. I suspect the store won’t be here beyond the end of its lease. If I’m spending money to feed my family, I don’t need bad treatment in the process.
1 great star for Melvin or Marvin hugs...very kind sweet man. 1 great star for the woman that said I'm sorry excuse me....1 great star for having my products. Organics Original cool
We all know East Village is not the greatest area, and this store is no exception to that. Some of the staff can be rude. Usually in the deli. Every time I go in to grab lunch, the staff seem to be too busy to help me grab some delicious chicken. Does not make me want to continue shopping here. If you don't wanna do your job, just quit, it's not rocket science.
I've been a customer of this Albertsons for many years, and now I depend on it, and have sadly watched it slide downhill to the point that it is now an impending failure ....a dismal failure. I'm a retired disabled senior citizen, with decades of business and organization experience at the highest levels. Here's my honest and sincere assessment and diagnosis of this failing store: After having a long conversation with him, I now know that the new store director, Sean, is committed and determined to turn the store around. He recently took over this store with a lot of longtime problems. I am also friendly with several of the staff members. It is my experience, and they have told me that many of the staff have left, transferred or quit .. or refused to come to work. I am told that other Albertson's employees in the area refuse to transfer to this store. Last week my online home delivery order was an hour and a half late and when I talked to someone in the store she was very upset saying that they are working with a skeleton staff and she was very overwhelmed. The store director and some supervisors and employees are often stressed out and sometimes demoralized ... The continued failure of this store would be a tragedy for East Village and downtown. Thousands of senior citizens and young millennials depend on this store. Yet It is filled with people illegally bringing in their dogs which bark, pee and crap on the floor, and there is almost no control over the homeless bums in front of or in the store. There is rampant theft.. And the store management appears powerless to stop these problems. I watched three homeless people go out of the store the wrong way through the barrier doors without paying.... in front of a woman security guard. Too many good people on the staff of this store are either angry or totally demoralized and hopeless. Has a successful former businessman, I can tell you with my voice of experience.....This store is now a closure waiting to happen!!.... and that would be a disaster for downtown San Diego.....UNLESS THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION. This can be fixed but it will take an emergency intervention by corporate. It will take an experienced turnaround leader to rebuild this store from the ground up. Hurry up before you lose the last of your best employees. Corporate: send in undercover mystery shoppers to diagnose the disease and malfunctions that have infected your store. Then send some experienced turnaround leaders to rebuild it. Do whatever it takes to retain the few loyal employees you have there, and get new good ones committed to rebuilding the store and serving your community. Even go so far as to offer bonuses to employees who transfer in. I asked to be contacted by senior management at the regional office or corporate. UPDATE: The next day after first posting this and emailing it to corporate Albertsons I received phone calls from two very senior managers at the regional office. They concurred with my evaluations and observations, and assured me that they are keenly aware of the problems and that help is on the way to this store. They conveyed their commitment to turning this store around and I am impressed by their honesty, quick response and commitment to the store and to our community. However, We'll wait and see with hope...
