Recently switched from Vons to Pavilions. They remodeled some of the inside, so far the external surface is the same other than the signage change. Pavilions is a higher market brand than Vons so I’ve been concerned of price increases, but so far they’ve only increased the higher end options and de-emphasized the lowest end ones. I’ve always appreciated this Vons having enough of the right products I’d typically get at Sprouts (such as Rebel ice cream), while also having all of the bog standard middle American products I cannot get at Sprouts. I’ve walked here, rode my bike here, driven and parked here—it’s all convenient as heck.
White Woman wearing mask, working self checkout at 540p on 11/07/25, needs to be trained better or not work in retail if she can't even respond to customers professionally. Never felt more uncomfortable at a store in my life as a POC. Really weird, unprofessional and prissy grocery store employees
This local Hillcrest market I have been going to along time, but I will say it’s not all that great, I have seen expired meat for sale, Insrted noticing when I bought expired hot dogs and did not pay attention to the dates , when I got home I went bact to the store and showed the manager and he laughed and said to get another, I did and mentioned a lot of the packs are expired but he seemed uninterested, I have bought grapes and strawberries and get home and see they are white with mold. Constant price switching, two weeks ago I bought organic strawberries for $6.98 each, this week they are $9.99 each? The Pharmacy is terrible at times, I have been in line with 7 people and yet there are 5 employees in the pharmacy not even caring to help with the line, I asked the clerk once ai had my turn why this happens often, she said she tells them but they do what they want. Maybe I should drive down to Ralph’s 🤔
The place had gone down the hill, right down Mission Hills lol when this store had converted into Pavillions. Absolutely horrible salads and everything in deli department. Only reasons I shopped here was because of their salads and prepared meals , now there is no reason to overpay for anything when Ralph’s is cheaper .
I recently visited Pavilions in Hillcrest (92103) and was truly impressed with the store’s upgrades! The new layout is eye-catching, the shelves are well-stocked, and the refrigeration units look modern and beautiful—shopping there feels like a fresh experience. That said, I’ve encountered the same cashier, an older woman, on a few separate visits. Each time, she’s been a bit curt and unfriendly. I understand we all have off days, but this has happened at least three times now, including a visit just a couple of days ago. A little consistent kindness goes a long way—after all, cashiers are the heartbeat of the store and help shape the customer’s overall experience. I’m still a fan of the store, and I hope this feedback helps improve the vibe at checkout.
