I enrolled for all the classes. Phil is an absolute delight, his detailed knowledge and his method to explain to the students is very encouraging. The floral designing techniques taught were very detailed and extremely helpful.

My experience with Southern California School of Floral Design was not only sincerely beneficial for my floral design career, but was also crucial in providing me the fundamental tools necessary to maintain a positive and successful attitude, mindset, work ethic, and mastery of the self. As a professional educator myself, I can honestly say that Phil Rulloda, Cathy Rulloda, and their assistant Phan are without equal in their approach to teaching beginners and skilled florists alike. The design information was taught in a thorough and well rounded manner, always with patience, and always with the success of each student in mind. By the end of the two week course, almost every student in the class was anxious to not only go out and put to practical use what they had learned, but also to further their careers and pursue certification through nationally recognized organizations. Most of all, Phil's command of the English language and the words and wisdom passed down from the great literary masters from all over the world and throughout different periods of time, were appropriately sprinkled throughout the course to further inspire and enlighten his students to realize their full potential. Even beyond graduation, Phil and his team are still available and happy to help answer questions and offer advice via phone, email, or social media. They truly have the success of the individual in mind. I am not only a better florist for attending The Southern California School of Floral Design, but I am a better person, business owner, father, and friend because of the lessons that I learned in those two weeks. I would have paid twice as much for half of the benefit that I received from Phil, Cathy, and Phan. I simply cannot recommend them enough and am deeply honored to have had the opportunity to work with and train under some of the most revered names in the industry.

I have my B.S. degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Cal Poly SLO. After graduating I thought that I was ready for the floral industry. For years I had dreamed of owning a floral shop as my grandfather and his father had done. In 1987 I had the privilege of taking one of Phil’s classes. It opened my eyes to a wonderful new level of design. Phil is a master at mechanical technique and design. I was also honored to have Phil request that I illustrate his new book. That request changed my life. I quickly discovered that I could not do the job without thoroughly understanding his incredible technique. For the next year I assisted with as many classes as possible in order to understand his masterful mind. Then and only then was I able to finish illustrating his book. A designer the likes of Phil Rulloda only come along once in a life time. I know of no one who would not benefit from his classes. You will carry the exceptional experience from this school. I couldn’t believe what I can do after two weeks! You are in the heart of flower wholesalers with professional florists working around you while learning from these three amazing teachers. Please look at my photos - I knew nothing about flower design when I came to take this class and I even made Wedding bouquet & Funeral stray in the end!
