This is more of a review for the cashout young lady who checked me out just now. On the receipt is says operator number 133 on terminal 19. Over all I had a great experience at this store. Twice employees kindly gave suggestions on where to find items in the store just by hearing me talk to my mother-in-law trying to figure out where things were! I was wowed by this! The store was clean and organized! Lots of variety! Get to the cash register and from the very moment it was our turn .. not a hello, not a hi.. no welcome at all. She was rude the whole time for absolutely no reason. I get it that it’s the holidays but she chose to work there and I just think maybe be a lil more kind to people that you are ringing up. I even had to bag all my own groceries(which was fine) but my point is she literally just had to scan stuff. My suggestion would be to train her better in customer service. That ruined my shopping experience totally!
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this ShopRite. In November, I spent over $2,100 during a promotional period where customers were offered holiday items and food pantry donations based on spending thresholds. I asked for one ham only and specifically requested that the remainder of the promotional benefit be donated to the local food pantry, especially since the store was actively promoting donations for the community. I was told this was not allowed. What makes this frustrating is that if I had broken my purchase into multiple smaller transactions, I would have qualified for multiple promotional items. I even asked the manager at the time and was told no exceptions would be made, despite the spirit of the promotion being community support and food access. Fast forward to today, during a personal financial hardship, I attempted to return a small pair of earrings purchased in early November and was told the return was denied due to a strict 30-day policy. No flexibility. No consideration. No alternatives offered. Between refusing to honor the intent of a major holiday promotion involving community donations and showing zero discretion or compassion for a customer who has spent thousands of dollars at this store, this experience felt rigid, transactional, and completely lacking in customer care. Policies may exist, but customer service is about judgment and fairness. This location failed at both.
This store using abusive pricing schemes. Here is an example of identical products with identical expiration dates (01/30/26) sold on the same day (11/30/25), but Shoprite is charging 51% more than an equivalent competitor only 4 miles away.
I have been going to this grocery store for years. After several negative experiences, it's safe to say this place has gone completely downhill. One particular experience I felt the need to share. I was completely shocked at the way a biohazard was handled by who I believe was one of the managers, I think his name was Osama, so I will call him that. It's Sunday around 11:00 AM, one of their busiest times of the week, and they only had 3 lanes open. I am fine with waiting, but the lines were so long that there was no place for me to stand where I wasn't blocking the aisle. I'm awkwardly moving every time someone comes in my direction. Osama had another aisle open, but the light was off. He looked at me struggling and didn't even wave anyone in front of me into his line. I couldn't go into self checkout either because I had 25+ items. After this, the cashier that I was in line for started having a nosebleed. No fault to the cashier, it happens, but he started telling his manager extremely loudly that he was going to go in the back and put a cheap frozen food item on it to stop the bleeding. I don't want to hear about any food at the grocery store I'm buying from being contaminated with nose blood... Osama takes over cashing people out, the whole time THERE IS STILL BLOOD ALL OVER THE COUNTER. They did not sanitize the area whatsoever. The cashier comes back and is wiping his nose and still doesn't seem 100% okay and Osama just lets him take back over - still blood on the counter. Osama then leaves, and is standing there looking at his phone and doesn't reopen another register. The whole experience was baffling. Other issues: They constantly have expired meat out. I have bought meat that was expired because I forgot to check the date multiple times. If you do self check-out, and purchase a paper bag, they keep them in a LOCKED cabinet. Are you kidding? Half the time the person is doing other things. When you get their attention and ask for one, they don't even say a word to you. I haven't seen the original managers there for quite some time and it seems like the majority of the original staff that was good is gone. Not sure what happened to this place. I even gave them a last chance after the nose bleed incident and just went to cook the chicken I bought, which expired the day before I bought it. Last straw.
Extremely rude customer service desk person, Angel, made me stand there awkwardly while he angrily scanned in coupons before acknowledging my presence. It was clear from his mannerisms he did not enjoy his job. He did not greet me or ask if I needed help. Refused to make change or offer any solution to what I’d asked about. I understand if something is against store policy but it isn’t hard to have decent soft skills when interacting with a patron of your store.
