Market 32

Thank you Market 32 Torrington Meat Dept for still selling cuts of meat with the bones on. I like to make roasts (pork and beef), and I can always find excellent options here. In this day and age when you’re not even sure what’s in the meat, I feel secure knowing these cuts are real. It’s very rare to find bone in roasts at Big Y, Stop and Shop, or Aldi’s, and I can always find a nice selection here. The Butchers have always accommodated my requests for personalized cuts, and for that I’m thankful and appreciative. The store is always clean and well stocked too!

The store is nice and clean, but they seriously have a problem with their meat. Over the last 2 years since moving here, I have bought several packages of meat from here that have gone rancid before their date. Even within 1 day of purchasing. The fridge temps are correct, this happened across different apartments, and meat from other grocery stores does not have this issue. My most recent purchase was flank steak, and when I opened it the next day, the bottom was slimy and a blue/green color with the worst smell I've experienced. This is just one of SEVERAL incidents over the last 2 years and it seems a bit much to me at this point. Their bone in pork ribs also have been bad on more than one occasion of me purchasing. The produce is also not super great more times than not. They do have the best frozen food selection, though! And I do quite enjoy their other products. Just be careful with the meat.

I've been shopping at Market 32 since the day they opened the new store. There are dandelion greens and many different types of kale! One day when the fabulous radishes were not there, I spoke to a woman I thought was simply a pair of hands -- and she informed me that the radishes just were not up to snuff that week and she passed them by! What a help that is! I rarely go to the middle of the store – but the Produce, the Bakery, the Meat Department where you can find tomahawk steaks and grass fed beef, and the Fish department - where you can find things fresh and there's someone to talk to who can guide you to what's especially good -- it all makes a difference. I wish the Price Chopper fellows had the courage to go all the way – but for the moment, what they're doing is so greatly appreciated! And -- by the way -- there is someone packing your groceries while you're unpacking your cart. The help is terrific. And I thank them. Overlook the fact that they're in a Wallmart Strip Mall -- and give them a try. You'll be pleased you did.

This review deserves an update from two years ago. 9/2022 - all the comments noted below in terms of their fish, meat and wings all still hold true. The produce department is amazing, too. Fresh bunches of carrots not withering and broken in plastic bags; an array of fresh herbs not seen at any other store; coffee bags that even include Canada's Tim Horton! The cauliflower head I brought home could have won a blue ribbon and the olive bar is extensive. Dozens of cakes to choose from if you need one from a variety of cheesecakes to birthday sheet cakes; Big selection of greeting cards and floral bouquets; Perhaps the largest selection of gift cards I've ever seen anywhere (dozens) from retail stores to cell phone credits. There is a Starbucks café on the premises. The hot wing bar is available daily from 11-2 and 4-7PM. # Great upgrade on this Price Chopper to their Market line now. Aesthetically on the higher end. Great meat department, fresh fish, produce and a hot take-out bar with a variety of flavored wings. Friendly workers. Today, customer service was fair enough to give me two twelve pack cartons of club soda when I told them we'd only bought two the other day, not knowing four had to be bought to get the sale price. ( i.e. we paid ten and should have received four twelve packs according to the flyer.)
