I very seldom go here. Maybe once a year. Today it was nice, not crowded. I found things that would help organize the house better for a great price. Will go back a bit more often.
I’m writing as a longtime customer who loves shopping at your stores, but I feel it’s important to bring up a growing issue that’s seriously affecting the shopping experience, both for customers and, I imagine, your employees. Lately, the push for credit card sign ups has become excessive. On three separate visits, I’ve been asked repeatedly, even harassed (they don't take NO for an answer), to open a store card. The pressure is so intense that it’s clearly distracting staff from doing their jobs properly. On one visit, the cashier was so focused on selling the card that she forgot to wrap my glass and breakable items. By the time I got home, one was shattered. On another, I informed the cashier I had one just wasn't using it and she kept asking "why?" then questioned "when's the last time you used it?" I had to firmly tell the cashier to stop asking and just finish the transaction. And most recently, I was simply doing a return, not even making a purchase and still got questioned about the card multiple times. It’s uncomfortable and unnecessary. I can tell your employees are under extreme pressure to meet some kind of quota, and that’s not fair to them or to us as customers. It’s creating a tense, unpleasant atmosphere at the checkout that completely overshadows what should be an enjoyable shopping trip. I truly hope corporate will reconsider how aggressively these credit card sign ups are being pushed. Let your staff focus on providing the great service they’re clearly capable of, instead of being forced into sales tactics that alienate the very people who keep your stores running, your customers. I still give three stars because this location has an amazing selection of merchandise! It would be five stars if they could calm the credit card pressure down.
I had a very frustrating experience at this TJ Maxx today due entirely to the store manager, Gary. I purchased throw pillows earlier in the morning, but the cashier failed to remove the plastic tag that holds them together. When I returned shortly after to have it removed, Gary insisted I needed the receipt, even though this was clearly a cashier error and I was not returning or exchanging anything. When I suggested checking the cameras to confirm my purchase, he told me they “don’t have access,” which is surprising for a store manager. Only after a cashier recognized me did he suddenly allow the tag to be removed. The inconsistency, lack of basic customer service, and insinuation that I was doing something improper were extremely off-putting. This could have been resolved in under 30 seconds but instead became unnecessarily uncomfortable. I expect better from store management. Never shopping here again.
One of my favorite places to do for a battery of things. I have bought coats, clothing including great deals on seasonal wear. I have also bought home decorations, Christmas decorations, dishes, etc. I would suggest you shop early and often for reasonable Christmas decorations as they sell out quickly.
Bought my wife earrings for Christmas around 7-8am. An older woman with black glasses, slight limp, customer service was terrible. I feel like I was skipped over because of my skin color; constantly told to wait and put on hold for people who showed up after me. Very uncomfortable to the point the customer said “ma’am take care of him, he’s been waiting”
