Publix is one of my favorite grocery stores, and this Boynton Plaza location is always clean with friendly, helpful staff. Shopping here is usually a pleasant experience. However, the deli sub station really needs improvement. On my last visit, there were only four people ahead of me in line, yet it took over 10 minutes just to make two subs for the first two customers. After waiting another 20 minutes without much progress, I finally gave up and picked up fried chicken for lunch instead. The rest of the store is great, but the deli moves extremely slow. If you’re coming here for a Publix sub, be prepared for a long wait.
Pros: Produce looked pretty decent, although I didn't check out their lettuce which is usually their most rotten items. I think they had pretty much the rest of the 3 items I was looking for. The checkout wait times were very minimal, especially for a Sunday! There were 4 electric shopping carts available which is more than usual. Thanks for that! P.S. I'm not a pumpkin spice girl, but they have pumpkin rolls now!! Cons: I was using one of their electric shopping carts and was having problems with it. It would start with a jerky movement then stop & not start again for a few seconds. I had this problem at another Publix also. While waiting in the checkout line, I put it into reverse but it jerked forward, stopped, then jerked forward again, running into the lady in front of me. Either way, she was fine and there were 4 carts available, which is more than I usually see.
I was TOLD Publix was professional, tasteful and customer focused. "You do realize this is the lane for 10 items or less?" There's no one else in line. "How many items do I have?" "I don't know, maybe 11 or 12. Maybe 10, I don't know. It seems like too many." "Would you like to cancel my purchase?" "No, it's ok." "Fabulous. Thanks SO much." Classy. Really had me leaving wishing I'd overspent my money elsewhere. Let's not make anonymous complaints about a business; This is mark newman, recently retired to W. Palm Beach, and that was Sunday, August 24, around 11 am on Congress Ave when I was in Boynton Beach. I decided, after some thought, not to report the specific employee to a manager. However I am reporting this publicly since I blame Publix management there, which trained this employee. Do better, Publix, or you'll start losing customers.
I am writing to express my frustration regarding the repeated negative experiences I’ve had at your store. Every time I visit, there seems to be an issue with the same group of employees in the deli section. They are consistently rude, condescending, and unprofessional. The employees barely speak or understand English, which makes it very difficult to communicate. They seem to understand only bits and pieces of what customers say, and as a result, they often do the opposite of what’s requested. For example, if you ask for yellow cheese, they will put white cheese on the counter instead and then give you attitude when you correct them. In addition, they often speak in another language with each other while looking at customers and laughing, which feels disrespectful and inappropriate. They also make sarcastic remarks toward customers, which is unacceptable especially in a food service environment. What’s even more concerning is that during my most recent visit, the manager was present and did not step in to correct the behavior or even check with me to see what was happening. This kind of oversight reflects poorly on the management and creates an unpleasant environment for customers. This is not an isolated incident; I’ve personally witnessed other customers experience similar issues with these same employees. For the sake of customer satisfaction and your store’s reputation, I strongly urge you to address this matter seriously and take the necessary steps to ensure better training and accountability.
Shopping at Publix is usually almost always a great experience. However, when I went to the produce section of the store I was looking for cucumbers. I found the cucumbers but most them were wrinkled and soft. There was no price tag for the cucumbers. I asked the gentleman working in the produce section how much thec were. After rolling his eyes he checked the price for me. Unfortunately, I had to ask him the price of something else. This did not go over well with him as he snorted but then checked the price. Then I was having trouble with my Publix app. I want to customer service and the young lady behind the counter was so wonderful! She came from behind the counter to help me. She spent quite a bit of time helping me and I was so grateful for that! This definitely made up for the employee in the produce section. For those of you new to Publix, just a pointer: if something rings up at a price other than the shelf price, you get one of those items for free! So watch your prices. (Don't forget to check the reduced product section. You can find some really great deals!) Also if you compliment an employee, they will get a free meal from Publix. Unless they changed the rules that is.
