Candle Makers on the Square

What a fun experience! Not only can you buy locally-made art and candles, you can also pour your own! My besties & I did a candle pouring session and we each poured two candles. We got to choose the scent, and the host helped us mix dyes to get as close to the color we wanted as possible (and they all turned out spot on). It was a great way to turn what could be a normal shopping trip into a memorable experience. The candle names are customized so we’ll always have a token of our trip!

More than just candles! I was specifically looking for a Kentucky Christmas ornament while my mom and I both love candles. This store seemed like the closest option after visiting the other lackluster shops around the Square. We were immediately entranced by the hand-carved Christmas tree platters. Then there were multiple displays of Kentucky and Bowling Green ornaments. There was an extensive kitchen and home decor section. I found my Fountain on the Square ornament, painted wood. THEN came the candles, in the back. We must have sniffed over two dozen candles. We each bought a medium size Kentucky Bourbon candle. Now, I'm usually strictly into sweeter candles like vanilla and ocean, but this one was special. $11 for the medium and sizes went from tea light to large mason jar. By the checkout counter were multiple jewelry displays. As a Texan and frequent two-stepper, I had to have these clay cowboy boot earrings. What a great store!

I was in Bowling Green, KY for a work trip over a year ago and stumbled upon this GEM of a shop. Because I was only traveling with a carry on, I could only purchase smaller items (wax melts) and those wax melts have been my favorite ever since then. Incredible quality- they last so long and smell wonderful! Today I actually used my last wax melt from that purchase and was so sad until I saw online that they ship!! I am so thrilled!

Zero wheelchair accessibility whatsoever. I could barely even open the door on my own, much less get over the threshold at the same time. Once inside, there was no ramp up to the stepped level. The pathway between the checkout and the stepped level were so tight with people standing in the way that I couldn't access the rest of the store. I decided to leave, and then had to wait next to the door for several minutes until leaving customers were polite enough to hold it for me. It was a sad, frustrating, and embarrassing experience. I unfortunately won't be able to come back until wheelchairs and their users are functionally allowed in the store.

Incredibly charming store! Staff are super friendly and helpful, so many fun gifts and great local artists! I will definitely be back to do Christmas shopping for all my appreciators of artsy things
