I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had yesterday at Shaw’s in Brunswick while picking up a DoorDash order. The order included a vase and flowers. I saw a vase behind the floral counter with no price on it, so I asked the florist about it. She told me they didn’t have it in stock. I explained that I had just seen it behind her, and she responded that she “didn’t have time to put a price on it.” When I said I needed it for a DoorDash order, she dismissively said, “They’re right next to you,” without offering any assistance. Okay…I thought you didn’t have them? When I placed the vase on the counter to ask about it, it wobbled slightly and she immediately snapped, “If you break it, you buy it.” The tone was hostile and completely unprofessional. I asked if she was always this disrespectful, and she responded that they were very busy. I actually used to work at Shaw’s myself, so I fully understand how busy it can get, especially on a holiday weekend. However, being busy is never an excuse for treating customers with open hostility. This wasn’t just dismissive. It was outright disrespectful and one of the most unpleasant retail interactions I’ve experienced. After that exchange, I didn’t feel comfortable asking her for help with the bouquet listed in the DoorDash order. I had to find another employee, who then informed me the bouquet wasn’t even in stock, despite being listed as available on DoorDash. Inaccurate inventory is frustrating enough, but pairing that with rude and antagonistic behavior made a simple pickup unnecessarily stressful. I expect basic professionalism and courtesy, especially from someone representing the store. The employee eventually gave her name as Ava after hesitating. I hope management addresses both the customer service issue and the inventory inaccuracies on delivery platforms.

Our Cooks Corner / Brunswick, Maine–area Shaw's isn't very busy — though, their Bath location, (rather close to me-still) in comparison, is *slammin'* They've a vast selection of products, and quite a large variety of produce – They ALSO sell HOT WHEELS!? Much better quality than our area Wal-Mart + a wider variety VS. our local Hannaford. Though, Hannaford is busier!? My 0.2¢

Super busy, long lines, no express lane, and I waited in line forever behind people with carts of groceries to buy one sprig of thyme. When I asked about an express lane (stupid me, did I miss it?) the cashier told me rudely that’s it’s not open because they are busy right now. Clearly poor management and a serious lack of training in customer service. I did ask nicely. This kid was a total prick and is why this review is here.

Earlier this summer I bought haddock so close to rotten it smelled up my grocery bag and car. Later noticed it was marked packed on July 11, sell by July 12. Returned it for refund. I've not bought fish from this store since. Employee who sold it should have known better.

I went to the service desk. I received prompt & courteousness as an interaction. I'm super grateful that the HR department is doing what they can to bring in responsible people that enjoy their jobs or at least act as if they do. I really love people.
