Awesome selection of things I need for our pets! Lots of treats my cats love and toys that our dog enjoys. They also have toys, cleaning supplies, some snacks, and all the things you would normally get from a hardware store too. Happy to have this not too far away.

If I was only allowed to 5-star one single business in my whole life, "Ameses" would be a contender. Helpful staff is what makes a hardware store great, and you can't get any more helpful (or friendly, or funny, or kind) than the people who work here. One time I was price hunting online for a gallon of a specific wood preserver. I spent about 20 minutes finding the best price ($40), but decided to stop at Ames' on the way home just to check. They had exactly what I needed for $31.99! This is the kind of place that makes me proud to be a Mainer.

Giving 5 stars because I can’t give 6. This place does a great job. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. The addition of the firearm area is also fantastic. The man they have running the gun counter knows what he’s doing, has great prices, and is very kind and helpful. I recommend this place to people all the time.

Bought boots for my son that ended up to be too small. Brought them back, brand new and never worn but didn’t have the box anymore. Was told can’t return without box but they never once tell you that or have it written anywhere. Had to buy ANOTHER pair of boots in the meantime so my son had some. Was told by cashiers only one person to talk to about that and she was never there when I went. Was given an email address to send info to and never heard back after an email and a follow up email. Boots aren’t cheap and I’m stuck with a brand new pair that will go to waste. Very disappointing

I have shopped here my entire life. They were in a different, smaller location not far from here. But they have been available and reliable. Good prices. Great employees. They remember you. Building lasting relationships with their customers. Real and trustworthy. That is a rare combination in this world today. They value their customers and you know it. There are so many things here, I can’t imagine not being able to find what you need. Plumbing and electrical and automotive supplies, gardening, building, painting, fishing, farming and more. Need assistance? They are knowledgeable and eager to help. I but my Lacrosse Alpha Burly boots here every year. Always the best price. Sometimes even on sale! Buy local. Stay local. Be local. I am Maine-born and raised!
