Star Market

Star Market is a reliable grocery store where you can pretty much find everything you need in one trip. One thing I especially appreciate is that they consistently carry Thai chili peppers, which closely resemble Indian chili peppers. That is not always easy to find at other nearby stores. They have a good variety across categories, and the store is generally well stocked. Prices can be a bit higher on certain items compared to places like Target, especially for staples like milk. Overall, it is a convenient, dependable option, even if you might pay slightly more on some items.

Disappointed to share that I was racially profiled at the Star Market on Trapelo Road on 1/4/26. The incident occurred in the self check out line. As I started to check out, the worker covering the area came up to me in an aggressive manner and made some sort of accusation of me working for "uber eats". It was difficult to understand and I think she could tell that I had no idea what she was talking about. I was just there running errands as people do on a Sunday morning and picking up a few items from the store. I went back to checking my stuff out but started to realize what had happened and felt anger and frustration. As a person of color, I noticed she did not treat any of the other customers in this manner. The woman working the self check out did apologize to me as I walked out. On my car ride home and more reflection, I called the store on my way home to speak with the manager. He apologized and said he would speak with the worker. He did mention something about the worker having issues with delivery food workers but that shouldn't have been put on me. I'm just hopeful the woman working the self check out line learned from the mistake so that this doesn't happen again.

I have to say Caleb Kullman is the absolute best! He is such a chiller! Always helps me find my produce! Such a chill guy!

I was really disappointed to see the way the floral manager was treating the employees there today. She was a woman with brown curly hair. There is a time and place to give corrective teaching, but yelling at her in front of customers about her mistake is really not appropriate. And going behind her back to gossip about her (good natured) mistake to her coworker is definitely unprofessional. I am giving two starts based on the way she treated us as customers buying balloons and the employees in the flower department. I hope the employee who is learning reads this and knows that managers should not treat you like that. We should all expect more from this store and its managers.
