Stop and shop isn't even that bad half the reviews are just people having a bad day, if you buy produce maybe put the fruits in the fridge or something so jt doesn't stay warm and go bad that doesn't sound like a bad idea right? There's no negligence and the employees at the stop and shop in beverly are honestly really cool
I get a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables when I shop at STOP & Shop, sometimes multiple times each week, and within a few days I find that they are bad and zi have to return them. Today I am returning butternut squash that I bought a few days ago because it has blue mold. I am also returning fresh raspberries because they are growing mold as well. I can't buy any fresh produce there anymore because I am tired of losing money. It's bad enough that the food is outrageously expensive there. Worse that I am eating food that is so close to spoiling and I can't see it. I'll go somewhere else where I know the produce is fresh.
Actually a pretty good place, more expensive than market basket for some basic brands though. Sushi is good actually, sushi’s was very bad here for a while but definitely bounced back. Good muffins but the blueberry muffin says it’s 680 cal. That is insane. What are you putting in your muffins? There’s no reason for it to be that many calories
“Stop & Shop was honestly one of the worst shopping experiences I’ve ever had. The whole store felt chaotic. Aisles were messy, products all over the place, and half the stuff I needed was out of stock. The prices were high for no reason, like they’re charging extra just to disappoint you. Employees looked tired and annoyed, and getting help felt impossible. The checkout line moved so slow I thought I was gonna age in place. By the time I left, I was frustrated, stressed, and still didn’t even get everything on my list. I’m definitely shopping somewhere else next time.”
I genuinely have no idea how this Stop & Shop location is still open, let alone functioning. Walking into this store feels like stepping into a forgotten, lawless corner of retail where health codes clearly do not exist. The produce section is an absolute disgrace—when it isn’t completely empty, what is there is visibly decaying. Strawberries covered in fur are just left out like that’s normal. The herbs are dry, shriveled, and brown—completely inedible. It’s not just poor quality—it’s absolute negligence. Even worse, I’ve found actual hair in their pre-shredded rotisserie chicken. Not once. Multiple times. How does that even happen? Who’s running the kitchen—do they wear hairnets? Do they care? There’s clearly zero oversight, zero pride in the store’s operations, and even less concern for the health and safety of their customers. There have been numerous times where I’ve filled an entire carriage, only to leave it in the middle of the aisle and walk out. Why? Because they never have what I need, and by the time I realize that half the store is either out of stock or stocked with rotting, questionable food—I can’t even bring myself to give them my money. It’s beyond disappointing at this point. It’s infuriating. I truly do not understand how the Board of Health—or whoever is responsible for regulating food safety in establishments like this—hasn’t stepped in. How is this place still running? How is it legally allowed to operate in this condition? It’s vile. It’s disgusting. And I refuse to come back. There have been so many times where the shelves are just completely empty. Like—when do you restock? Do you restock? Or do you just let the same rotting, bug-infested produce sit out until it liquefies? Whatever the case may be, this store is an embarrassment and a hazard. It desperately needs to be shut down or seriously inspected—because what’s happening here is not okay.
