I visited this place today around 7:30 PM. The store upstairs is clean and the people upstairs working there are very nice and friendly. However, the downstairs area was a completely different experience. It was very dirty and had a strong unpleasant smell. The guy working downstairs was extremely rude and didn’t seem to care about hygiene or basic standards. It looked like fish and meat were being cut in the same area, which is very concerning. I also noticed meat sitting outside the refrigerator when it was about 60°F outside. When I walked in, he was upstairs talking with another person, so it seemed like the meat may have been left out for quite some time. I asked for bone marrow, and he first told me they didn’t have any in ignorant way. When I pointed to the one I could clearly see, he said it was sold out. His behavior was strange and made me feel uncomfortable. Overall, the downstairs area felt unsanitary and very poorly maintained, which was disappointing considering how clean and pleasant the upstairs part of the store is. I definitively like the store, but definitively not downstairs. Neither the employee neither the meat section. I hope the store has good owners to look into this
Great store to find variety of Indian products like snacks, foods and fresh produces. Prices are reasonable. I like this store for fresh goat meat which is not readily available everywhere in Boston.
Customers are allowed to freely walk into the butcher area. This is a gross violation of food safety. We asked the butcher repeatedly to remove the customer (red circle) from food processing area. But there was no action. The butcher will lose his certification if this continues. I hope the store manager sees this comment and installs some kind of gate so customers cannot walk into the food processing area.
