Update: The store continues to get worse. There's even less room to walk around than ever before and this store is too small for all the crap they have everywhere. To make matters worse, my boyfriend went to grab one of the few cases of Poland Springs left on the display and for some reason there is a big plastic border around it and he tripped and was very close to hitting his face on the ground. Did any of the emploees acknowledge it or ask if he's OK or offer us any kind of discount? Nothing at all. I hope that was worth losing a customer for good this time. Every trip to this store is miserable. A few months back I purchased steak with hairs in it so I started only grabbing simple things like milk and cheese that they can't mess up. Well, today was the final straw because the one thing I forgot to check the date on expired YESTERDAY. Some things can go past the date but I'm not risking yogurt. Hope all these bad experiences are worth me never coming back. I'll drive the 20 minutes to Walmart!
I went to buy the Salmon for $7.99 a lb that they started advertising on Friday. It's Saturday and they don't have any until Sunday. This happens all the time. Very poor management. Also wanted something at the deli that they didn't have. I understand why people go to other markets.
My husband bought cut up chicken at Shaws last week. Breaking it into little pieces for a chicken salad, he found a piece of plastic in it. He brought it to the service desk today and just wanted to let them know about it so they would be more careful. He didn’t want any money or new chicken, he did it so no one would choke on it. He was treated so disrespectful. The person at the service desk said we don’t have anything like that here, indicating that it came from our house!! I can assure you IT DID NOT!! we have better things to do than put plastic in the chicken that we were going to eat and complaining about it!! If this is how you treat your customers, we will think twice about shopping there!
I was shopping at Shaw's in Fall River this morning and I just had to write a review for Ben, my cashier. He was the most friendly, helpful, kind person. He saw that I was struggling with the Shaw's app and so very kindly took my phone ( after nicely asking me "may I?" I happily took him up on his offer and he made sure that all the "clipped" items I bought were indeed "clipped." He also taught me how to better use the app "in the future. " From now on, I will always look for Ben's line even if it means I have to wait a little longer. Thank you, Ben for all of your kind, helpful, friendly assistance this morning.
I just came in to customer service to make an exchange/ receive store credit. I purchased some cake from the bakery department that had a piece of plastic baked into it. No big deal. Things happen. I walked in, grabbed cat food that came to a dollar amount slightly less than the cake, approached the customer service counter, and explained to the woman the situation. I just wanted to exchange the cake for an equal amount in cat food. The woman asks for a receipt, i explain i don't have it so i just want to do a store credit. She then sighs for an exaggerated amount of time, looks at the cake and says "we sell this? You bought this here at shaws?" As if i would try to get one over on the billionaire corporation Shaws for 8 dollars instead of just going to the place it came from to exchange it. I said slightly chuckling "yes maam" to which she replied "well, i don't know, nothing on here says 'shaws' there's no indicator it came from here". At this point she's clearly judging me based on my appearance because no items say "Shaws" on them because the food manufacturers distribute to other stores besides shaws. Would you accuse someone of attempting to commit a fraudulent return if it were a can of goya black beans because the goya label doesn't have the shaws logo on it? It was the most absurd exchange I've had with a customer service representative in a long time. I ended up just thanking her for her time and telling her she can dispose of the cake however she saw fit, and i left. And i left with my equivalent in cat food because shaws received their exchanged product back. I'm appalled at the way i was treated over an 8 dollar return and from this point on I'll be taking my business to market basket.
