Sheffield Pottery

We first chose the Skutt kiln we wanted, then chose the retailer. We chose Sheffield because of customer references, their web site, and the ease we had getting some final configuration questions answered. Their technical support is excellent. Their office administrators were very helpful. We only talked to humans. What a pleasure it was spending $5,000 at Sheffield. My wife and I can tell we made a great decision going with them. They quoted up to 7 weeks for delivery. We received our Skutt KM1018-3 IN 2.5 weeks. The shipper Estes did a great job communicating as well. We are very happy.

Do not order online. I placed an order in 11/25/2025 they charged my card at the time of purchase. The items I ordered showed in stock at time of purchase. Fast forward to January 6-items not received nor any communication. I called for status and the items are now on back order with no ETA. I asked for a refund and they want to charge 6% restock fee and stated I would have had to cancel prior to the payment process. The payment was processed immediately online at the time of the order. The customer service rep was rude and indifferent. Will not do business with this company in the future.

DO NOT ORDER HERE. I ordered a pottery wheel that arrived damaged. Customer service was extremely poor — no phone pickup, calls were hung up, and no follow up at all. Very disappointing experience for such an expensive purchase.

I have bought many times from Sheffield, and I can’t sing their praises enough. Their clay is awesome - I particularly love Liz’s light mix. Their customer service is out of this world. Sheffield is a family run business, so I love supporting them and their service makes it just that much better. Great selection and great prices. If you need help finding something, give them a call!

I’m giving the customer service end of my experience “4 stars” but my over all experience brings the average rating down to a 3. I ordered a pug mill through Sheffield and it was delivered broken! As you can imagine, I was pretty shocked to receive a broken piece of equipment that cost over $5,000. After receiving the broken item, I immediately reached out to Sheffield and to the manufacturer of the pug mill. Both parties blamed it on the shipping company. Throughout my months which I appreciated. However what information I did receive from them, did not line up with what the manufacturer was telling me. This made me feel uneasy about what was really happening with getting me a new piece of equipment . After multiple delays with shipping, which cost me to miss work( I was told to be home from 9-5 and they showed up two hours late) and hearing differing stories depending on whether I talked to the Sheffield or the manufacturer, I asked for a refund. Sheffield did reach out to me on more than one occasion with an apology. My refund was processed immediately and I received it a few days later.
