I had the absolute pleasure of taking a class with Michael at the Minneapolis School of Flower Design, and I can’t recommend it enough! Michael’s passion for floral design shines through in every lesson, and his teaching style is both engaging and inspiring. He has an incredible ability to break down complex techniques into easily understandable steps, which made learning so much more enjoyable. I came into the class with little experience, and I left feeling confident and excited to apply what I learned. The hands-on approach was fantastic, and Michael was so supportive, offering helpful tips and personalized guidance throughout the entire course. Michael Gaffney’s Minneapolis School of Flower Design was a challenging and fun opportunity to be taught how to OFFICIALLY be a floral designer! To receive valuable teaching and critiques of the work as we progressed through each design gave me confidence and validation. As I learn I like to be told when I am wrong, not just passed by and allowed to remain mediocre. Michael doesn’t hesitate to tell students what they need to change, and he celebrates good work. The class was very empowering. My daughter and I took it together in 8/25 and are excited for future opportunities. Thank you Michael!
Michael is everything you would want in a teacher. He will help you create better work, give you encouragement and is always willing to answer a question for you. It is a lot of fun learning about the business and new ways to design flowers, you are allowed to add your own personal style without fitting into a strict guideline. Getting to keep the arrangements is a HUGE bonus. I would say I enjoyed my time here. Also Everflora has very friendly staff!
I truly loved Michael and this class. He is a wonderful teacher and shares his secrets with you along the way. You get your monies’ worth and then some! Plus, he is charming 😊
Having started floral arranging as a hobby I have been interested in taking a course that would help me learn some beginning techniques I was lacking and also move to higher levels. The course is brilliantly designed so that you can choose different levels: beginner level course, the first day, intermediate is the first 2-3 days. I attended the entire course from Monday-Saturday. Literally half of our large class only had signed up for the first day. (Everyone I talked to regretted not staying longer. Some were able to change their schedules and stayed longer!) But that means we received more individual guidance throughout the week. Plus those who stay the whole week receive a full online wedding design course for free which will be awesome for reference! I LEARNED SO MUCH! Michael Gaffney is a fantastic teacher. Technique is what is stressed and that is what I lacked. I have a good eye as an artist, but many of my arrangements were lacking because of my lack of technical knowledge. This week I have learned methods that will cut the time I’ve spent on an arrangement in half and also make it far more beautiful and literally solid. I learned a simple technique to keep the flowers from moving around and not using tape. I have much more confidence because now I know why an arrangement isn’t working and how to fix it.
