ShopRite of Northvale

Pretty basic store, doesn’t have everything you need but it’ll do. Self checkout has issues with scanning & bag weight, so they station someone there so your self checkout is just as slow as the regular line. Main issue is everything is cluttered to the brim in an already small aisle with random boxes & carts. Management could certainly organize everything better

Worst. Cake. Ever. For my daughter's birthday, I ordered a 7" round vanilla cake with vanilla frosting and chocolate pudding filling, priced $19.99. I was told they only had square cakes, so, ok, I ordered a 7" square, same price on sign. I picked it up the next day, and not only was the cake sloppily decorated and round, but its price tag said $32.99. The guy changed it to the right price, but on my way to pay, I got VERY annoyed by how awful and amateur the cake looked, so I complained to the manager, and he charged me just $11.99. When I cut the cake for my daughter, I saw it had 3 UNEVEN layers with filling that was so sparse that it didn't even extend to the edge of the cake. The final insult? It was not only STALE, but flavorless. Absolutely disgusting to saw a stale cake into 3 layers and think a dollop of pudding filling will mask staleness. Do NOT use Shop Rite of Northvale bakery. Complete disappointment not just for me, but for my daughter, who didn't even finish eating her piece. Here's a pic showing the sloppy, uneven layers and lack of filling.

I can’t shop here anymore. Half of the self checkouts have been broken for 3 weeks now and the lines to checkout because of it are ridiculous. The store is also FILTHY, there is mung caked on the shelf where the cheeses are and the belts never get wiped down. I don’t understand how it’s so disgusting when it just got remodeled not too long ago, the one in Emerson is very old but is still 10 times cleaner than this location. Once you go to Wegmans or Stop & Shop you realize how truly gross this location is. It’s only 3 miles from my house but I’d rather drive further away cause I can’t deal with it anymore.

Meh prices. Fine selection. I tried to go through a checkout line with a clerk and they asked me to back out and go scan my own groceries. I then proceed to get coached up by the self scanner czar as I do so poorly on job that I never wanted! I miss the days when I could go to the grocery store and not get yelled at by a digital voice to PLACE THE ITEM IN THE BAGGING AREA. Excited for Lidl to open.

I loaded electronic coupons at the store and they were not applied. Upon learning of this when I returned home, I called the store and they said that I was required to come back to the store to receive a refund. A 16 mile drive for a $2 refund! They would not accept an email with a photo of the receipt. Needless to say, I did not go back to the store. Odd how they made the mistake and they profited from it! I will think twice before returning.
