ACME Markets

I have been very pleased with the staff at this particular Acme location in Shrub Oak. They are all extremely helpful in every way. There is a young lady by the name of Annmarie. I met her at the Customer Service Counter. I am disabled, and she was kind enough to store my personal cart while I went shopping in the scooter. I was amazed that while I was in the aisle to check out my purchases with the cashier, there was Annmarie bagging my items!! I also noticed her interaction with the employees. It was very positive, and she seems fair in her treatment of the same. Thank you, Annmarie, for your kindness and understanding. It went a long way!!!!

Rude and understaffed workers One woman working a register told us her lane was closed and proceeded to just stand at the register not doing anything besides turning other people away As well as customer service being completely empty for just activating a gift card after being rudely turned away at another register Only redeeming quality was the worker outside collecting carts and his nice

If I could give no stars, I would. I have seen this store be sneaky about their “sell by dates”. They once put a new sticker over an old sticker on a piece of meat (pic attached). Then tonight I was done making my soup when I added in the evaporated milk to finish it off. When I added the milk I noticed it had a weird smell and color. I decided to check the expiration and sure enough, it had a best by date of almost 5 months ago. We went back to the store where we were issued a refund. Before we asked for a refund, we went back to the shelves and found FOUR more old evaporated milks. I can’t imagine how many other expired things are hanging out in this store. The manager never apologized and was actually defensive. It’s a shame that this store doesn’t do better. Someone can get extremely sick (I am pregnant and I don’t even want to know what would have happened if I had BROWN evaporated milk). Such a shame that the management takes ZERO accountability. All that she needed to do was say sorry and I probably wouldn’t be writing this review right now. I will never go back to this store and I will make sure I spread this information on every site I can get my hands on- including the health department.
