Cliff Avenue Greenhouse & Garden Center

Apparently this greenhouse believes their responsibility ends the moment you walk out the door. I purchased four plants — two were dead within a week. When I contacted them, I was basically told “too bad.” Plants die sometimes, sure but two out of four plants dying in under a week points to poor plant health before they were sold. The real issue though, was the response. The customer service was dismissive and made it very clear that once they had my money, they didn’t care. No concern, no troubleshooting, no attempt to stand behind the quality of what they sell.

I love visiting Nursery's in the summer time. My wife took me to this one for some hot pepper and tomato plants. Place is pretty big. Plenty of selection. I guess my only criticism would be the lack of baked goods and stuff. I used to go to this Nursery as a child in rural Pennsylvania and they had homemade ice cream, Amish baked goods etc. This Nursery did have a small variety of candy but I'd like to see more baked goods. Of course, not sure how feasible that is. Just a childhood memory when I visit Nurseries. Probably spoiled by that Nursery. But overall this place is very cool.

Cliff Ave on 26th has a wide variety of plants, home decor, and plant accessories. Lots of pot/planter options! The greenhouse was stocked with all your typical houseplants and had a little of everything (definitely more plant options than you’d find at the big box store). I thought many of the plants were a bit overpriced, compared to other greenhouses I’ve been to across the Midwest (but maybe that’s because it’s South Dakota).

I bought a hoya (my wife's favorite) here for her birthday. When I told her where I got it, she thanked me but told me she refuses to shop here because she feels the owner is an unkind human being. Anyway, the hoya was infested with mealybugs and we are still fighting them. These things happen, I normally don't leave reviews over something like this, but my wife doesn't say things like that about people very often. Because of this, I do feel the need to let people know it is wise to check their plants when shopping here. I usually buy from big box stores, and I've never had a mealybug issue. Edit: Based on some of the other reviews, it seems like my wife is not the only person who feels this way about the owner. It also seems like I am not the only person who brought mealybugs home. If you guys want plants, it's my experience that you'll pay much less by shopping online. I may or may not have found out that I paid double for my plant by purchasing here instead of checking the internet first.
