Bakery department has little of anything. Deli rarely has enough fried chicken. Employees are always friendly though. Today I bought a half gallon milk priced at $1.99 on the shelf, my receipt said $2.09 when I got home. Funny how they're quick to update the computer and not the price tags. I know it's only .10 cents but where does it end? 3/28/25: Tried to buy milk again. None on the shelf but you can see case stacked up behind it. Went to customer service desk. They just sit in the office not paying attention to the people standing there. Finally lady comes out, told her about milk situation , she said someone would come back. No one ever did. I left. This is the worst Safeway/Albertsons store in WW.
What I don't like is the need for senior citizens to be forced to show ID to buy cigarettes and beer. If those young one's you hire can't see that we're over 21 years old, why do you hire them???? You should either have an override button for seniors, or take it from our licences we are forced to show just to get the shoppers card. But I for one, am HIGHLY offended by your teenyboppers asking to see MY iD😠😠
There are two (update: Now, three!)Safeway Supermarkets here in the city of Walla Walla, WA. The locals refer to this Safeway as “ghetto Safeway” as a way to differentiate between the different locations. That should tell you all you need to know about this store. But, I will elaborate! The surrounding area is not great. The store itself isn’t bad when it comes to selection, and cleanliness. I have no complaints about the actual store, how it's managed, or what they offer. Previously, I wrote that most of the staff seemed to hate their job. But I'm happy to report that this "attitude problem" seems to have changed. Most of the evening crew is pleasant now, even friendly! I can't say the same for the day crew! That's when "she" works! God forbid you should select an item to buy, and then change your mind. Be prepared to be questioned as to where the item you had in your cart went. On two separate occasions a very skinny, older brunette female checker who dresses and styles herself much younger than she actually is (can you say PATHETIC??) asked me where I put an item that I had removed from my cart. What?? I was shocked. This woman is extremely rude, and condescending. Her behavior is very unprofessional, and borderline criminal due to the implication she makes for everyone to hear that a customer must be stealing based on the contents of their shopping cart at checkout. She obviously has a need to embarrass those around her. She talks 10x's louder than what's necessary for normal communication. In my opinion, she enjoys making people feel intimidated, and unwelcome. I don’t shop at this Safeway store anymore, except for a rare emergency visit. It's sad that one person can do so much damage, but I'd rather shop almost anywhere else just to avoid a possible encounter with this woman. I have reported my experiences to no avail.
I shopped at the Southgate Market for 35 years until it abruptly closed. I've been shopping around, including the big Plaza Safeway which I can't stand. So I went into this store prepared to hate it, but to my surpise, it's my new favorite Market! Its just the right size, yet carries specialty items I need which the Plaza Safeway doesn't. The prices were much better than I expected. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only thing I wish was different is the diagonal parking and the small parking lot, but thats not a big deal. Thanks for this warm, welcoming store. See you next week!
They had what I needed and for a decent price without negotiating or fighting with knives. They had them Bubba burgers and that’s important to your president cause he loves them Bubba burgers even though they suck…
