Origin & History

Native to China

Native to China, the China Aster was brought to Europe by a French Jesuit missionary in 1728. European breeders developed the double-flowered varieties we know today. It became extremely popular in Victorian gardens and remains one of the best cut flowers for late summer arrangements.
